Thanks to Ken Johnson and Carol Diamond of the Chicago Computer Society for a FANTASTIC regional conference this past weekend. The event could not have gone smoother thanks to their countless hours of preparation and work. The facilities were outstanding. the programs were very interesting, the vendor support was great - all in all a first class operation! I think that all of us who attended received tremendous value over the weekend (not just the shrink-wrap either ;-) )

Once again thanks CCS and special thanks to Ken and Carol.

Hi Ken... Just a short note to again congratulate you, Carol, Jerry, and all your helpers on the tremendous job you all did planning and running a terrific "Regional weekend." All of the gang from the Quad-Cities joins me in a great big HUZZAH! Thanks again for everything. It was a great success.

Best, -B-

Ken, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and Carol for the wonderful job you did at this weekend's conference. Unlike others I've been too, this one was relaxing (for the attendees at any rate!) as well as informative.

To all who stayed at the Lodge during the Midwest Regional Conference last weekend -- apparently there was some confusion over the tax charged on the Hotel rooms. When we originally signed the contract, we were told that the Lodge did not charge sales tax on its rooms. This is still correct. Unfortunately, the State of Illinois passed a lodging tax which became effective in May. The Lodge is required to collect this tax, and neglected to inform us before the meeting. Sorry for the confusion.

The 1995 Midwest Regional was by far the best regional I have ever attended. Everything was superbly planned and skillfully executed. My thanks to the many volunteers who made it work so smoothly, and a very special note of thanks to you and Carol for the extraordinary effort you both invested in making the regional a truly successful event.

Ken, I didn't get the name of the Novell presenter at the Sunday sponsor showcase. Do you have his name and e-mail address?

All of the attendee's from the S.E.W.W.U.G. really enjoyed the conference. And from personal experience, I know what it took to get the job done, congrats.

I am writing this article at the finish of an extremely successful regional APCUG (Association of Personal Computer Users Groups) meeting that CCS hosted at McDonalds Lodge in Oak Brook. This is a meeting where user group officers from the Midwest region to come together to share information and experiences and to interact with vendors. I only wish there was a way more of you could experience this event. This meeting was planned by several dedicated CCS members headed by Ken Johnson and Carol Diamond who worked tirelessly for several months to make it a super veent. I would also like to thank Jerry Sass, Beata Kernan, Sharon Whitney, Char Selzer, Lois Sickels, Bill Diamond, John Owrey and John Kernan for volunteering their help. This event was made possible through the corporate sponsorship of Adaptec, Adobe, Americal Online, Borland, Claris, Delina, Elek-Tek, IBM, Intuit, Lotus Development, Microsoft, Novell, Symantec and the User Group Connection.

Thanks again for your skillful direction of the MW Regional. It is turning out to be one of the best Regionals of the year and that is a feather in your cap (and all your helpers). I look forward to participating in the MW Regional next year. I hope I'll see you then if not sooner. Bye.

I would like to take this opportunity to say THANKS to you and Carol Diamond for all the hard work that you put into making the 1995 Midwest Regional User Group Officers and Directors Conference such a success.

The Northern Computer Users Group is a young User Group, celebrating their first anniversary in August. Thus, this was our first attendance at such an event. I must say we both enjoyed the weekend immensely. The interaction between other User Group Officers and Directors was very enlightening. We found that even the older User Groups are experiencing some of the same problems we are. Hopefully we all gained from hearing about other User Group problems and successes.

I have enclosed a copy of our last two newsletters for your review. Please note the article in the August/September issue titled "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" and also the Thank-you on page 5 of the September/October issue.

Again, we offer our THANKS for a job well done. Sincerely,

Francie Freeberg, Chairman, Northern Computer Users Group, Iron Mountain, MI
