Chicago Computer Society

30th Anniversary Celebration

"Secondary drawing prizes"

Acer C710-2834 Chromebook laptop

Weight 3 pounds.  11.6" 720p screen, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, ethernet port, HDMI port, audio port, 2GB memory (expandable to 4GB) and 16GB SSD.  Chromebooks use primarily cloud storage, little on the local hard drive.  If you do have or create a new a Google account, you get 15GB of storage.  The Chromebook comes with redeemable online coupons for several things including 100GB cloud storage free for 2 years, then at current pricing, less than $24 per year to maintain, but doesn't delete what is already there if you don't pay.  Chromebooks do not support internally or externally optical drives.  Everything runs through only the Chrome browser and you add apps from the Google Store.  More and more of what we do on our computers is on the Internet (smart phones, tablet, and can be used on traditional laptops and desktops).
