This Sig. held a meeting October 26th at which the topic was the website,  Healthcare.gov with the discussion lead by the Coordinator  Norm Montgomery.   Eight persons who live at the nearby Lawless Gardens complex, 4 of which were seniors,  attended this meeting.  Norm and two of the attendees attempted to setup an account and go through the income verification and assessment steps.  Each step in the process consumed 20 to 30 minutes so the meeting time permitted only Norman to complete the entire process.   The November meeting date conflicts with the Thanksgiving weekend so the November meeting was cancelled and rescheduled for December.

The Region 2 Southside Computer Club held a meeting. October 11th , the topic of the presentation was “Identity Protection”.  The presenter,  Lizveth Mendez from the Illinois States Attorney office,  shared information on identity theft concerns and prevention awareness.   Discussion topics included: how do thieves get your information, how do they use it, what should you do if you are victim, and how to keep safe. This was a very informative meeting.  On October 29th the steering committee met.  Club meeting agendas and presentation topics were established and planned for upcoming meetings through April 2014.  On November 5th the New User Sig. met With Roger Hale presenting “Introduction to Microsoft Windows Paint”. Roger showed the members how to use Paint like a digital sketchpad to make simple pictures and creative projects,  or to add text and designs to other images. The drawing tools can be used to create freehand drawings and add a variety of shapes to your pictures. Many sophisticated graphics software applications (such as Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop) use the same basic principles that can be learned using MS Paint

Brain Storming Session

At this meeting all members of the Board and many of the Sig leader’s were present.  The President held a Brain Storming session in an effort to get some ideas on how to increase CCS’s membership.  The best idea was that all of us use Social Media (Face Book, Twitter, etc.) to advertise CCS meetings.   This would require the Clubs and Sigs to determine the meeting topics no later than a week in advance of the meeting date.  This has been a constant problem in the past.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:27 P.M.
