Discussions held:

Treasury Report:

The Treasury report stated that as of 12/31/2015, CCS had a bank balance of $14,900.25   with current CCS membership 183.

Regions

                             The Region 1 New Users SIG meeting scheduled for December 26th (4th Saturday) at  35th & King Drive in Chicago was cancelled due to it's conflict with Christmas.  This SIG. has a new meeting location, 4655 S. King Drive Suite 203, Chicago, IL 60653

The Region 2 South Suburban New User's SIG. held a meeting December 1st with Larry Yelder presenting “Android Phones/Tips/Tricks/Apps/Hacks.  The South Suburban Computer Club's Christmas party was held December 15th at Balagios restaurant with   approximately forty people were in attendance.  Roger Hale won the Grand Prize (iPad) for the second year in a row. 

.                          The Region 3's Access SIG meeting was held December 10th. The presenter  shared some examples of things they built and still use today to get metrics about how their customers are interacting with their application and reports.  The Digital Imagery SIG's meeting scheduled for December 14th was cancelled.  The Region 3's Westside Club held a meeting January 7, 2016 which consisted of an Open Forum for the entire meeting.

                    The Region 5’s The Northwest Club held a meeting December 17th.   The theme  was “Project night update" with all attendees describing their own personal projects. The Computing Tips/Fixes SIG.  with Coordinator William Zeigler held a meeting January 4th  2016 at the Poplar Creek Public Library Streamwood. .  Topics  discussed were: Technology Christmas presents,  New Windows 10 points, and Cloud backup.     The Computing Tips/Fixes SIG. with Coordinator William Zeigler held another meeting January 6th at the new location Lake Villa District Library, Lake Villa, IL.  Topics discussed were identical to  those discussed at the  January 4th meeting

     New CCS Website Investigation:

                    The team of Johns Owrey and Nicoulakos reported no significant progress since starting                  this task.

Discussions held:

Treasury Report:

The Treasury report stated that as of 1/31/2016, CCS had a bank balance of $13,527.75   with current CCS membership 183.

Regions:

                             The Region 1 New Users SIG has a new meeting location, 4655 S. King Drive, Suite 203, Chicago, IL 60653.  Meetings will be held monthly from 1 P.M. - 3 P.M the fourth Friday of the month.

The Region 2 South Suburban New User's SIG. held a meeting January 19th  with Larry Yelder presenting “Android Phones/Other cell phones.  Larry had difficulty with his Chromecast device, so the meeting turned into an open discussion about cell phone settings, apps and security settings.   The South Suburban Computer Club held a meeting February 2nd with Al Cheeks as the presenter.  Al's presentation was his review of  the highlights of the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).   Al has attended CES  for the past several years and  returns to provide the members with an informative and entertaining presentation

.                          The Region 3's Access SIG meeting was held January 11th. The presenter was Jon Swedlund whose topic was "Access Data Macros".   Data macros were introduced in Access 2010 and are likened to triggers in enterprise-level database  management systems and can be used for a variety of purposes .  The Digital  Imagery SIG held a meeting January 14th.  The presenter had to cancel at the last  minute so the meeting was turned into a very informative Open Forum. .  The  Region 3's Westside Club held a meeting February 4th, 2016 with Al Cheeks as the presenter.  Al's presentation was his interesting and entertaining  review of  the highlights of the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

     New CCS Website Investigation:

                     John Nicoulakos a member of the team of Johns Owrey and Nicoulakos,  demonstrated his initial construction of an ASP.NET MVC website to host eHard-Copy.

Regions:

 

                             The Region 1 New Users SIG has a new meeting location, 4655 S. King Drive Suite 203, Chicago, IL 60653.  Meetings are held monthly ther fourth Friday of the month from 1 P.M. - 3 P.M.

The Region 2 South Suburban New User's SIG. held a Planning meeting March 29, where the topics for the meetings April - September 2016 where identified.   The South Suburban Windows SIG held a meeting April 5th.  This meeting was an "Apple/Special Event",  with Tony Edwards as presenter.  Tony informed us where technology, especially Apple Phones, IPads and Computers, and  Tablets are going.

.                           The Region 3's Digital Imagery SIG meeting was held February 11th. The presenter cancelled, so the entire meeting was an Open Forum.  A Digital meeting was held March 10, which was an Open Forum on how to store and keep track of one's pictures and videos.   The Access SIG. held a meeting March 21st.  Virginia Weiskopf was the presenter and demoed an Access database she inherited and showed how she built it out to make it more user friendly and data driven.  The Westside Computer Club held a meeting April 7th 2016.  The presenter Roger Hale demoed his 3D printing and scanning equipment.

 

                            The Region 5’s Northwest Club held a meeting March 17th  2016.  The Coordinator, Ed Keating,  provided  the presentation which focused on Raspberry PI  2 and the recently released Raspberry PI 3.  This was very timely in light of Pi day (3/14) which occurred during this week.  As a pleasant surprise, the power point presentation was shown on a Raspberry PI 2 with open office.

 

                             On April 4th the Streamwood Tips and Tricks SIG. held their meeting at the Poplar Creek Public Library, with Sanford Kolinek as Moderator.  Sanford presented a drone demo flight with  the drone video recording  it's flight.                                  

                        Sanford also demonstrated the tools he uses to edit and view the drone's videos. Topics also covered included (1.) Ransomware, specifically the     instance where three Hospitals where infected with Malware that locked up vital Hospital files till the hospitals paid the ransom. (2.) 3D printers which are able to     create artificial hands for less than $25.

 

     New CCS Website Investigation:

                     The team of Johns Owrey and Nicoulakos, reported no progress during this period.

            The Board Meeting was cancelled on 6/11/2016 due to lack of a quorum.  These notes  include Region activities for the June and July  periods.

 

                             The Region 1 New Users SIG has a new meeting location, 4655 S. King Drive  Suite 203, Chicago, IL 60653.  Meetings are held monthly the fourth Friday of the month from 1 P.M. - 3 P.M.   On June 24th Norm Montgomery conducted a meeting during which he demonstrated programs that assisted one in learning a new programming language.

            The Region 2 South Suburban Windows SIG. held a meeting June 7  with Al Cheeks presenting "Windows 10, User Tips".   The South Suburban Club held the annual Summer Party meeting June 21 With Vicky Panozzo presenting Chrome Cast.  The Windows SIG. held a meeting July 5th with Roger Hale's presentation covering "Edge Features".

            The Region 3's Access SIG held a meeting May 9th with Jay McCormick  Presenting " Autoexec Macro - Running startup code".   The Access SIG. will be on Summer Break for the months of June, July, and August.   The Digital SIG. held a meeting April 14. with Jim Gregory as the presenter.  Jim showed some videos he made and explained how he implemented  special effects in the videos.    On May 12th  the Digital SIG. held a meeting with Jim Gregory continuing his video and special effects presentation he started the prior month.  Sanford also informed the attendees how he legally obtains free music and also presented several of his PodCasts.   The June Digital SIG. meeting was cancelled.  The Westside Computer Club held a meeting May 5th with Jerry Sass as the presenter.  Jerry covered "How to download videos from Youtube using Realdownloader "  and also Easy Programs to help you plan and enjoy a fulfilling retirement.   These programs included May retirement, AARP's Retirement Calculator, Estate Map,  as well as legal forms you'll need.    The Westside Club's June meeting was cancelled.   The Westside Computer Club held a meeting July 7th with Jerry Sass  presenting  "How to set up a Linksys ea6350 AC1200+ Dual band Smart Wi-Fi router.

Regions:

                             The Region 1 New Users SIG has a new meeting location, 4655 S. King Drive Suite 203, Chicago, IL 60653.  Meetings are held monthly the fourth Friday of the month from 1 P.M. - 3 P.M.  This SIG. is on Holiday vacation until the fourth Friday of January.  On November 17th the CCS Triton Student Chapter met.  The meeting was well attended, the topic discussed was Hacking,  Vulnerability Analyses, Social Engineering and Your Privacy. 

                              The Region 2 South Suburban Club held a meeting December 6th with Joe Nowak presenting googles "Boolean logic".   Joe demonstrated various uses of this search engine. The South                      Suburban Club's  Annual Christmas Party  was held at Balagio's in Homewood December 20th. 

                            The Region 3's Access SIG held a meeting December 12th.  The Digital SIG. is now inactive with all meetings cancelled.   The Westside Computer Club held a meeting December 1st  with Joe Nowak   as the presenter.  Joe's presentation covered On-line Databases.  This meeting was also the Westside's Christmas party.

                            The Region 5’s Northwest Club held a meeting November 17th  2016  with the Coordinator Edward Keating presiding over an Extended Open Forum to answer questions about windows updates issues to hardware diagnosis.  Members were encouraged to bring their questions and see if someone else has similar issues that they’ve solved.  The Tips/Fixes SIG. meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Lake Villa District Library from 6 until 8:45 P.M. Wi-Fi is available.   The Tips Tricks SIG. meets at the Popular Creek Public Library, Streamwood, IL the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30 P.M. until 9 P.M..

            Awards: At this meeting it was announced that Victoria Panozzothe 2016 Harold Driscoll Award and Sanford Kolinek received the 2016 President's Award.
