The Chicago Computer Society -- Users Helping Users

1995 Midwest Regional Conference

Invitation to Computer Industry Vendors

Showcase your products to Influencers throughout the Midwest

The Chicago Computer Society is proud to be hosting the 1995 Association of Personal Computer User Groups (APCUG) Midwest Regional Conference August 4-6 in Oak Brook, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. APCUG is an international organization of 350+ user groups representing more than 300,000 members.

The regional conference is a leadership training workshop with attendance limited to user group presidents, editors, directors, and officers. No registration or conference fees are charged, though registrants pay their own housing and transportation costs. Facility, meal costs, and other major funding are provided by contributions from software and hardware companies, including IBM, Lotus, Microsoft, Borland, Intuit, and others. Many of these contribute products as well, to be given as attendance awards.

We hope that your company will consider supporting the APCUG Midwest Regional Conference. Your payback will be target marketing to a very focused group of influencers within their workplace and user group. A User Group Demographic study in 1992 concluded that user group members have a significant impact in purchasing decisions, with three out of four members involved in corporate purchasing of hardware and software for personal computers, influencing average annual purchases of $90,000. More significantly, if only user group officers (such as our conference attendees) were considered, annual purchases of each would average $250,000.

There are several ways to support the APCUG Midwest Regional Conference:

Sponsorship of one of the meal functions. Sponsoring vendors will have use of an auditorium with full a/v equipment for their presentation, and will be noted as a sponsor in the Conference proceedings.
Sponsorship of Friday evening reception or Saturday breaks.
Contribution of product for attendance awards and "goodie bag" items. Contributed products (and related advertising materials) will be on display until the drawings at the conclusion of the Conference. Winners will be asked to review the product in their user group newsletter.
Monetary contributions for meeting expenses. Contributions of $250 or more will be noted as Conference Sponsors in the Conference proceedings.
Contribution of services or materials (e.g., paper, postage, copying/binding services).

We look forward to your support of the 1995 APCUG Midwest Regional Conference and user groups. Please contact conference chair Kenneth Johnson at kejohns@interaccess.com for more information about Conference participation.
